Classic Tanzania Northern Circuit Safari

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your safari guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to relax and prepare for the adventure ahead. Your guide will brief you about the upcoming safari over dinner.

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant baobab trees and large elephant herds. The park is home to over 3,000 elephants, making it one of the best places in Africa to see these magnificent creatures up close. Enjoy a full day of game driving, spotting lions, leopards, and diverse birdlife. The Tarangire River attracts wildlife from miles around, especially during the dry season.

Drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a compact gem described by Ernest Hemingway as the loveliest in Africa. The park is renowned for its tree-climbing lions, a unique behavior rarely seen elsewhere. Explore diverse habitats from groundwater forests to the soda lake shore, home to thousands of flamingos. Watch hippos in the pools and look for blue monkeys in the forest canopy before continuing to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world largest intact volcanic caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This natural amphitheater is home to approximately 25,000 large animals, including the highest density of lions in Africa and the endangered black rhino. Spend the full day exploring this unique ecosystem, enjoying a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. The crater offers almost guaranteed Big Five sightings in a single day.

Journey across the stunning Ngorongoro Highlands to the Serengeti, stopping at Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. Enter the Serengeti through the Naabi Hill Gate and begin game viewing immediately. The Serengeti endless plains are home to the largest concentration of plains game in Africa. Witness the iconic African savanna as lions rest under acacia trees and cheetahs scan the horizon for prey.

Spend a full day exploring the Serengeti, arguably the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. Depending on the season, your guide will take you to the best areas for wildlife viewing, potentially including the spectacular Great Migration. Watch hunting predators, playful elephants, and graceful giraffes against the backdrop of endless golden plains. Optional early morning hot air balloon safari available (additional cost).

Enjoy a final early morning game drive in the Serengeti before transferring to the airstrip for your flight back to Arusha (flight included). Upon arrival in Arusha, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey or to a hotel if you are extending your stay.
