Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park is a hidden gem covering 552 square kilometers, showcasing Tanzania's remarkable diversity from montane forest to open savanna. Dominated by the majestic Mount Meru (4,566m), Africa's fifth-highest peak, the park offers stunning volcanic landscapes including the dramatic Meru Crater and the ash cone rising from its floor.

The park is unique in the northern circuit for allowing walking safaris, offering intimate encounters with wildlife including giraffes, buffalos, and playful black-and-white colobus monkeys. The scenic Momella Lakes, each with different algae colors ranging from green to blue, attract thousands of flamingos and over 400 bird species. The Ngurdoto Crater, often called "Little Ngorongoro," provides spectacular viewpoints over pristine wilderness.

Despite being one of Tanzania's smallest parks, Arusha National Park packs incredible variety and offers a more intimate, less crowded safari experience. Visitors can climb Mount Meru, enjoy canoeing on the lakes, or take guided walks through montane forest where waterfalls cascade and colobus monkeys leap through the canopy. Its proximity to Arusha town makes it perfect for short visits or as a safari warm-up.
