Nyungwe Canopy Walk
Walk among the treetops in East Africa's largest montane rainforest
Nyungwe Forest National Park protects one of Africa's oldest rainforests, and its canopy walkway offers a thrilling way to experience this ancient ecosystem. Suspended 50 meters above the forest floor, the 160-meter walkway provides bird's-eye views of the forest canopy.
The swaying walkway takes you into a world usually reserved for birds and primates. Look out for chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, and over 300 bird species including numerous Albertine Rift endemics. The experience combines adventure with exceptional wildlife viewing.
Nyungwe is home to 13 primate species, and chimpanzee tracking is available alongside the canopy walk. The forest's biodiversity, scenic hiking trails, and unique experiences make it an essential Rwanda destination beyond the gorillas.
