Akagera Safari
Experience Rwanda's only savannah safari with Big Five wildlife
Akagera National Park, Rwanda's only savannah park, has undergone remarkable rehabilitation to become a genuine Big Five destination. Lions were reintroduced in 2015, rhinos in 2017, completing the Big Five alongside elephants, buffalos, and leopards.
The park's diverse landscapes - rolling hills, papyrus swamps, lakes, and savannah - support abundant wildlife including large hippo populations, crocodiles, zebras, giraffes, and diverse antelope species. Over 500 bird species have been recorded.
Akagera offers boat safaris on Lake Ihema, game drives, fishing, and behind-the-scenes conservation experiences. The park's conservation success story makes it particularly meaningful - this is African wildlife conservation at work, turning a degraded landscape back into wilderness.
